Statement of Intent
The Cariboo Regional District Library endeavors to develop collections, resources and services that meet the informational, recreational, educational and cultural needs of the Library's diverse community. It is within this context that the Library offers access to the Internet.
Internet Access
The Internet is a global entity with a highly diverse user population, therefore library patrons use it at their own risk. The Cariboo Regional District Library has no control over the information available through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content.
The Cariboo Regional District Library reserves the right to deny the use of its Internet terminals to users who access sites that are potentially offensive to other patrons in the library.
Guidelines (public internet terminals)
- Users must have their own active library card to access the Internet. Visitors may use Internet stations if scheduling permits.
- Parents or legal guardians are responsible for their children's use of the Internet. Children will use the Internet on the same basis as adults without any censorship or supervision by library staff. It is strongly recommended that children 12 and under be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Any illegal use of the Internet is prohibited and may constitute a criminal offence for which the user will bear sole responsibility. Cariboo Regional District Library is not responsible for any user misuse of copyrighted information or violation of software licensing agreements.
- Cariboo Regional District Library does not provide e-mail accounts, or allow access to multi-user games, Internet relay chat, video conferencing, talk utilities, filesharing programs, or other similar services.
- Users are responsible for any commercial transactions made while using the Library's Internet connection.
- To ensure virus protection and to safeguard files, personal disk drives cannot be used nor personal software installed. Users wishing to retain information may print as per library fees or email to personal accounts.
- Users could be liable for any damage caused to the library's computer equipment. Any misuse of the computer or Internet access will result in loss of Library privileges.

- Wireless access is only available during library operating hours
- To conserve bandwidth, download size will be limited.
- The library is not responsible for ensuring connectivity between patron laptops/notebooks and the wireless network. Library staff will not configure, troubleshoot, or provide other technical support for patron laptops/notebooks.
